The Dolphin Digest

Building a Strong School Community

February 3, 2026

Hello Dolphin Families!

As we embrace the cooler, crisp weather, I hope you are all settling in the new year well. While it is quite a change from the typical Florida climate, I am certainly enjoying this refreshing, temporary break from the heat.
Our month-long celebration of Black History Month has gotten off to a great start. This year marks a momentous milestone—the 100th annual celebration of the vast contributions Black Americans have made to our nation. We honor figures like Marian Anderson, Frederick Douglass, Dred Scott, Sojourner Truth, Dr. Charles Drew, Phillis Wheatley, John Langston, Sidney Poitier, and Ida B. Wells-Barnett to name a few.
Throughout February, students can participate in daily trivia during morning announcements. Additionally, Ms. Payne is guiding students in creating a Black History poster display. We have a fantastic turnout with 90 students participating! Please look out for upcoming details regarding our Black History Spirit Week.
Orange Blossom Dental Bus: The dental bus will be on campus on February 10th-12th to provide free services to our 1st and 2nd-grade students. Please return the signed permission form by February 5th to participate.
A parent engagement survey was sent out a few weeks ago on Parent Square. If you have not had a chance, please take a moment to give your feedback. Navigating the school year can be overwhelming. I am here to support you. If you have a meeting on campus and would like extra support, please reach out—I am available to attend with you.
Looking Ahead: Key Dates:
Parent Check-In (Feb 9th, 9 AM–11 AM): Join me in the Media Center for a casual chat to discuss testing, tutoring resources, ParentSquare, and any questions you may have.
Resiliency Art Night (Feb 26th, 5:30 PM–7:00 PM): Join Ms. Perez and myself for a guided painting experience (Painting with a Twist).
March 31st: Family Science Night hosted by the Orlando Science Center.
April 16th: Spring Assessment Night in conjunction with New World’s Reading
May 7th: Mini’s with Mom
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Everett

Food Drive

During the month of February, we will also have our second food drive. This will be utilized to support families during upcoming Spring Break. Please consider contributing to cereals, canned goods, and other non-perishable goods.
A link will be shared in Parent Square or a form in the front office should you need to receive food from the Dolphin Marina.
